Class description

Art Appreciation 1st and 4th hour
                                 

This course introduces the historical development of art. The students will gain an understanding of the elements of art and  principles of design in various art forms including sculpture, painting, and mixed media.  

a. Demonstrate an understanding of the elements and principals of design in visual arts.
b. Have a knowledge of various materials and techniques used in creating works of art.
c. Analyze and critique works of art.
d. Identify key works of art in various historical time periods.                                                     e. Create works of art in various mediums and styles.

A sketchbook is also required for “Do Now” work.
 

 

                       Drafting/Mixed Media 2nd hour                     
The students will learn about basic drafting skills. Lettering, geometric shapes, graph drawing and  blueprints are a few of the lessons.

Mixed media is an art class that uses a wide range of materials, and students experience an individual creative process and at times will work in the collaborative process. Students will learn about artists that work in mixed media and create art in various styles.

  a. Projects may include; printmaking, collage, sculpture.

  b. Medium will include several objects as well as basic art medium.

A sketchbook is also required for “Do Now” work.
